Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the 20 professionals who have completed this training.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of the graduates, the CEOs and instructors of EPD Norway and LCA.no were also satisfied throughout their stay in Korea.
In particular, the presence of both the CEOs of EPD Norway and LCA.no helped IGSC effectively inform participants of the importance of EPD and enhance IGSC's status.

The Institute of Global Sustainability Certification (IGSC, CEO Lim Noh-hyun) announced on the 8th that it has completed the "2nd EPD Norway Verifier Training" with EPD Norway (CEO, Håkon Hauan, Hokon Howan).
The training was carried out under closer cooperation between the IGSC and EPD Norway as the "1st EPD Norway Verification Board Curriculum" held in Norway in June 2023 was successfully completed. The training was held at Topaz Hall, SpaceShare Seoul Station Center, for a total of five days from the 4th to the 8th.
EPD Norway CEO Håkon Hauan visited Korea in person to emphasize the importance of EPD and environmental document projects to participants and encourage instructors and attendees through lectures.
In addition, Roger Martinsen, a managing director of the Norwegian Embassy in Korea and Norwegian Innovation Manager in Korea, who attended the opening event on the 4th, also led to smooth progress through active participation and support during the education period.
This training is EPD Norway's official auditor training, which aims to foster carbon footprint, LCA, and EPD professionals within the company as well as proactive response to European PEF systems, eco-design, and carbon border regulations.
The IGSC said, "A total of 20 people completed it with officials who meet the qualification requirements of verifier training in various industries such as electrical and electronic products, food and beverages, chemicals, consulting, research institutes and public institutions."
The instructors of the training consisted of experts in EPD and LCA and sustainable management and practices. Christopher Skarr, who represents EPD Norway at the ECO Platform Technical Working Group and is an associate professor of sustainable management at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Børge H. Johansen, a senior advisor to the EPD Norway Technical Committee, was in charge of training.
Also, Ceacilia V. Wernersen of LCA.no , an environmental document-related tool and service software company, conducted hands-on EPD software training so that participants could generate and verify LCA and EPD themselves through the LCA/EPD Generator Tool. In addition, Peter Yan (Peter Yeon, Yeon Seng-mo), an adjunct professor of environmental engineering at Ajou University, explained the differences between Norway and Korea in the EPD and LCA fields and shared decades of experience so that trained verification judges can actually conduct screening in Europe and Korea.
Based on standards such as ISO:14025, EN:15804, ISO:21930, EN:50693, prEN:15941, ISO:14067 and ECO Platform standards, the training consists of an overview of the verification system, verification technique, LCA, and software usage.
Jung Ki-woong, head of the IGSC, said, "Through this training, we appreciate the efforts of the students who listened to the training with interest to secure EPD-Norway judges and meet the ever-growing demands of EPD."
Meanwhile, EPD Norway is operated by The Norwegian EPD Foundation and has a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with International EPD Sweden, EPD Italy, EPD Denmark, and IBU (Germany). EPD Norway CEO Håkon Hauan serves as chairman of ECO Platform.
The Institute of Global Sustainability Certification (IGSC) has signed an exclusive partnership with EPD Norway to serve as a Korea office and will hold an EPD Norway Verifier Training twice a year. Therefore, education is planned in Norway and Korea in 2024, and related matters can be inquired through the IGSC.
